11/22-4/21 – Hot Cocoa Sleigh Rides – Snow Mtn Ranch, Granby – horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow covered forest with food and hot chocolate. Blankets are provided and they encourage caroling. The winter sleigh rides are offered every day at noon, 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 7 p.m.

12/20-TFN –  Dillon Ice Castles – Dillon – The castles, which include towers, slides, tunnels, fountains and thrones, were made of 25 million pounds of ice, according to a press statement from the company. Artisans have been building the castles since mid-November. The Dillon location is one of six in North America.

1/12-27 – 113th National Western Stock Show – Denver – The National Western Stock Show is a nationally recognized western heritage and entertainment event with one of the world’s richest regular season professional rodeos, one of the country’s largest horse shows, and a western trade show.

1/21-31 – 29th International Snow Sculpture Championship – Breckenridge – Teams of snow sculpture artists from around the world create creative masterpieces out 12-foot-tall, 25-ton blocks of snow using only hand tools.

1/21 – 45th Cowboy Cowboy Downhill – Steamboat Springs – With over 100 of the best professional rodeo cowboys competing in the most unique ski rodeo in the country.

1/23-27 – 4th Annual Fat Bike World Championships – Crested Butte – Features epic Fat Bike venues, a Demo Day, vendor showcase, discounted ski lift tickets, beer, branded burgers, tons of swag, prizes, give aways and live music.

1/24-27 – 2019 X Games – Aspen – X Games returns to Aspen, Colorado’s Buttermilk Mountain for the world’s best action sports, music and festival experience — on snow! All sport competitions are free and open to the public. X Games Aspen will host musical performances by Lil Wayne, Louis The Child, The Chainsmokers and Kygo as they take the stage alongside the most progressive winter athletes . Live coverage of the event will air on ESPN and ABC.

1/24-27 – Ouray Ice Festival – Ouray – For three days and four nights Ouray is an absolute ice climbing mecca; ice climbers, novice and pro travel from around the world to celebrate the growing sport of ice climbing. Hundreds of spectators on Saturday and Sunday watch the world’s best ice and mixed climbing talent battle for the prize! And, with over 100 interactive and educational climbing clinics to accommodate every skill level, Festival participants are sure to have an experience to remember.

1/25-26 – Denver Winter Brew Fest – Denver – The Winter Brew Fest will celebrate craft bevrages from around Colorado and beyond and features; live local music, food, and other vendors. This event benefits Swallow Hill Music.

1/25-27 – Winterfest – Pagosa Springs – The Hot Air Balloon Mass Ascensions, Sled Races, Cross Country Ski Clinic, Fat Bike Race, BB Gun Biathlon, the ever popular Penguin Plunge, and much more!

1/25-27 – 5th Annual UllerGrass Music & Beer Festival – Golden – Named one of the Top Ten Outdoor Festivals in Colorado by the Westword, UllrGrass 2019 will feature a diverse lineup of bluegrass, newgrass, funk and jambandFestival-goers dress in Viking regalia and celebrate community, live music, performing arts and craft beer.

1/25-27 – Rio Frio Ice Fest – Alamosa – Live Ice Sculpting, faux snowman building, a kids costume contest, a Grub-n-Pub, polar plunge,  a fire and ice bonfire, a 5K on the Rio Grande

1/26 – 23rd Annual Fruitcake Toss – Manitou Springs – Join in some old-fashioned tossing of those maybe-not-so-beloved holiday desserts. There will also be a fruitcake costume competition, libations, and a fruitcake bake-off where local bakers will compete for the title of Fruitcake King or Queen as determined by the community. Winners will be based off who makes the best organic, non-GMO, natural fruitcakes.

1/30-2/3 –  41st Snowdown: Get Your Comic On – Durango –  Giving comic book lovers an opportunity to don a red cape. This years year’s celebration will allow participants to draw from a number of different pop culture categories for their costumes. A celebration featuring wacky events such as a Do’s and Don’t Luncheon, parade of lights, and Outlaw Jose Pet Golf.

2/6-10 – Steamboat springs Winter Carnival – Downtown Steamboat Springs – A variety of events that embrace Steamboat’s western heritage and highlight our tradition of winter sports… including everything from kids pulled on skis behind horses down a snow-covered main street, to the Lighted Man at the Night Show Extravaganza who’s battery-powered suit weighs 70 pounds.

2/8-17 – Cripple Creek Ice Festival – Cripple Creek – Ice sculptors carve ice into beautiful works of art! This is the 12th year for this premiere event.. This years theme is Super Heroes in Ice!

2/15-17 – Mid-Winter Bluegrass Festival – Northglen – One of America’s favorite indoor bluegrass events featuring national & regional bands, vocal & instrumental workshops, vendors’ fair, band scramble and lots of jamming.

3/1-3 – Ski Joring & Crystal Carnival – Leadville – See the unique sport of ski joring and join mountain bike and Nordic ski races, a paintball biathlon, and umpteen other kinds of winter fun! You can ride your horse or ski, bid on a team at the Calcutta auction, or line up on Harrison Avenue to watch the excitement! Kids can get in on the action, too, and try ski joring behind a snowmobile.

3/8-10 – Frozen Dead Guy Days – Nederland – One of the most unique and quirky festivals in the country, Frozen Dead Guy Days is three days of frosty merriment featuring 30 live bands in heated super tents and outrageous events like coffin racing, costumed polar plunging, frozen t-shirt contests and much more.  Thousands of adventurous, life enthusiasts come to participate in Colorado’s “most frigidly fun festival” and view the events along with local, national and international media and entertainment.
